What is Rummy?
Rummy is India's most widely played skill card game, enjoyed by millions across the country. Played with a standard 52-card deck (plus Jokers), 2–6 players race to be the first to form valid sequences and sets from their 13 cards and declare. Unlike Teen Patti which relies partly on luck, Rummy is a pure skill game — the more you practice, the more consistently you win.
Scoring & Penalty Points
When a player declares, all opponents count the points of their ungrouped (unmelded) cards:
- A, K, Q, J, 10: 10 points each
- 2–9: Face value (e.g., 7 = 7 points)
- Joker: 0 points
- Maximum penalty: 80 points per hand
- Full count (wrong declare): 80 points penalty
Rummy Strategy Tips
Strong Rummy players consistently apply these principles: always keep track of which cards opponents are picking from the discard pile (it reveals what they're building), discard high-value cards (A, K, Q, J) early if they're not forming sequences, and use Jokers to complete impure sequences rather than sets — sequences score you wins faster.
