Ludo Tips & Strategy

🎯 Spread Your Tokens

Don't move one token all the way. Spread 2–3 tokens on the board to give you more options each roll.

🛡️ Use Safe Squares

Park tokens on star (safe) squares when opponents are nearby — they can't capture you there.

⚔️ Capture Aggressively

Sending a leading opponent token back to home can be more valuable than advancing your own token.

💡 Pro Tip: Always prioritize getting tokens into the home column — once inside, they're safe from all captures.

Ludo — India's Classic Board Game

What is Ludo?

Ludo is a classic strategy board game derived from the ancient Indian game of Pachisi. Played by 2–4 players, each player controls 4 tokens and races them from their home base to the center of the board. The game is simple to learn but deeply strategic — timing captures, using safe squares, and choosing which token to move makes all the difference.

Ludo Variations Popular in India

  • Classic Ludo: Standard rules, 4 players, first to bring all 4 tokens home wins.
  • Quick Ludo: Each player starts with tokens already on the board — no need to roll a 6 to start. Faster-paced.
  • Ludo with Power-Ups: Modern digital variant with shields, extra rolls, and bomb power-ups.
  • Team Ludo: Opposite players team up — both team members must reach home to win.

Why Ludo Became India's #1 Mobile Game

During 2020, Ludo became the most downloaded game in India. Its simple rules, multiplayer nature, and nostalgic connection to childhood family game nights made it perfect for mobile. On ApnaTP, you can play the browser version instantly — no download needed — before trying the full mobile experience.
